The Ethiopian ICT sector has seen substantial growth in the last five years owing to massive investment agreements with China’s ZTE, and other several hardware and software projects. The massive expansion of network and establishment of links to 10,000 rural villages has led to a marked fall in the quality of the service.
As the fixed, mobile and Internet services are monopolized by the government Ethiopian Telecommunications Corporation (ETC) there is little opportunity in the rendering such services. However, there is huge opportunity in system development as the country is transitioning from manual system to a computerized system.
